Ringwall got herself a fox in order to practice for earthdog trials required for CACIB titles. The fox was named Ready and it quickly grew familiar with the dogs and other pets of the household.
“Ready, which I had for 10 years, would eat regular dog food. It was so domesticated that it was often indoors. (…) Once this person arrived with their own dog. They said that now we’re gonna set up a tube and put the fox in. When they did that, the dog ran to the fox and started barking. The fox cowered in a corner. That’s when I said: ‘No, that’s enough. Away with the tube and the dog. My Ready will not be a part of this, he is my own fox.'”
